- Hobgoblins use their lesser cousins, the goblins, as scouts, messengers, slaves and assassins. Goblins are intimidated to co-operation by their larger cousins
- Bugbears are used as elite shock troops, or laborers in places where strength is needed. Bugbears are dumper and simpler than hobgoblins, and therefore take commands from hobgoblin commanders, though if their numbers surpass that of hobgoblins, they usually take rule by force
- Myths say that the hobgoblins were the creators of other goblin races
- Hobgoblins excel in physical combat and as warriors, though they have warlocks and mages too
- Hobgoblins worship Bane the Tyrant, god of warfare
- There are rebellious forces within the hobgoblin nation too, with different agendas. At least one sect wants the war to end.
- Goblins were just separated tribes before the Goblin Wars. At the Goblin Wars, they were united by a strong chieftain of one tribe, ancestor of the current king Gamûl Barag. Their success and current advanced state is mainly because they conquered the strongholds of dwarves and successfully annihilated the entire race. With the knowledge and fortressess of the dwarves they gained needed power to dominate the entire area.
